The past two years have taught us a lot! They have taught us that we have fight. They have taught us that we are stronger than we think. They have taught us that sometimes our best is more than enough. We have faced many trials with a united front and a determination to meet the health care needs of our community, no matter what. Our Emergency Department, intensive care unit and inpatient COVID-19 units were constantly pushed to the limits. Our teams offered telemedicine when appropriate to provide care that may have otherwise not been possible, providing over 2,000 virtual consults. We set up a special center for infusion therapy for COVID-19-positive patients, which helped approximately 442 patients safely recover at home. We wore the appropriate personal protective equipment and followed policies and procedures to protect ourselves, co-workers, patients and visitors. We set up vaccination clinics for our staff and for the community (administering nearly 5,000 vaccines), and provided information to the public daily.

We were exhausted, but we were surrounded by a community whose outpouring of love and kindness resparked our passion and fueled our fight to continue to pursue our healing mission. Yes, these past two years have taught us a lot. They have taught us that we are not only health care heroes, we are health care warriors—we are resilient, and we are stronger together.
