Building a Healthier Future for Our Community
Beauregard Health System is improving the patient experience in our community—and we’ve taken a major step forward by closing on the financing for our reinvestment project, using a U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development low-interest loan supported by two of our local banks. We’ve also been blessed by the continued support of our legislators through the state’s capital outlay program and qualified as a public benefit community project, making us eligible for private investor-related new market tax credits. Both of these programs helped reduce total construction costs by approximately $11 million, significantly offsetting the $34 million total project cost.
One of the improvements we'll make is the addition of a brand-new Emergency Department that will tie into the north side of the building, running parallel to Pine Street. It will be more visible and accessible to the public, with more parking available for patients and families. The new ED will feature more private rooms and specialized areas of care for trauma, infectious disease, and mental and behavioral health care needs. A new, state-of-the-art, en suite CT machine will ensure instant access for emergency care, which is critical for diagnosing time-sensitive, acute conditions such as strokes and heart attacks.
We'll also combine women's services in a one-stop renovated space on the third floor of the hospital. One side of the space will house our Women's Health Clinic, and the other side will house the Obstetrics Unit. This wing will feature new Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum Suites and an Alternative Birthing Unit, where our certified nurse-midwives can assist qualifying families with more of a natural, homelike birthing experience.
Your community hospital
As a community-owned, not-for-profit health system, we reinvest in our facilities and services to strengthen health care for you and your family.
In addition to the physical improvements, we are also making investments in services. Noteworthy examples include population health and wellness, cardiovascular care, infusion services, wound healing, podiatry, pediatrics, surgical services, and women's health. We are committed to continuously improving health and wellness services. We are your community hospital, and we are Here for Life!
Construction zone
We apologize in advance for any temporary construction-related noise, restricted parking, heavy equipment, and dirt and dust that will inevitably get kicked up throughout construction. We know this is a means to an end, with the end being improved access to health care services and exceptional patient experiences. While we maintain a safe and secure construction zone, we invite our staff, patients, and community to check on our progress by visiting our website at beauregard.org/er-groundbreaking and launching the live video feed.
