Beauregard Health System's Medical School Scholarship Awarded

In the heart of our tight-knit community, BHS has long stood as a beacon of hope and healing. As a testament to its commitment to fostering local talent and ensuring a future of physician-led health care, BHS is thrilled to announce that Chase Spooner is the newest recipient of its Medical School Scholarship.

Spooner, originally from the Ragley area, recently graduated from McNeese State University and was accepted into the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine's (VCOM) Louisiana Campus. He started his medical education journey in July of this year.

Wade Miller, Chairman of BHS' Board of Commissioners, explains the vision behind the scholarship: "We believe in investing in our community's future. By supporting local students in their medical education, we are not only helping them achieve their dreams but also ensuring that our community continues to benefit from highly skilled and compassionate health care providers."

Because BHS serves as a core clinical medical site for VCOM, Spooner will have the opportunity to complete his third- and fourth-year rotations at BHS.

"I'm incredibly grateful for this opportunity," says Spooner. "The scholarship represents more than just financial aid; it's a promise of a future where I can give back to the community that raised me."
