Alison Shirley –Testimonial
Alison Shirley’s journey through her battle with colon cancer, and ultimate cancer free diagnosis, is a testament to the extraordinary care provided by the Beauregard Health System team. “Facing a diagnosis of colon cancer was a complete shock, but I will forever be grateful for the exceptional treatment I received from the moment I entered Beauregard Health System’s Emergency Department this past Father's Day,” said Alison.
Dr. Michael Hsu's swift action upon discovering a blockage in Alison's colon through a CT scan exemplifies the dedication and expertise of BHS's medical staff. Immediate emergency surgery led by Dr. Hamid Alipour, which resulted in the removal of a portion of Alison's colon and the implementation of a colostomy bag, was a crucial step in her journey towards recovery.
“Once the positive diagnosis was made, I traveled to MD Anderson and received my treatment protocol,” said Alison. Alison was able to return home and receive all of her Chemotherapy treatments in the BHS Infusion Center under the direction of Dr. Michael Bergeron. “This was a true blessing,” she continued. “The collaboration between the doctors at MD Anderson and BHS was nothing short of spectacular, and I must add that the infusion nurses are angels!”
“God’s fingerprint was guiding every step of this process,” Alison commented. The seamless coordination between multiple physicians and facilities provided for Alison’s comprehensive treatment plan. Dr. Hsu’s swift diagnosis, Dr. Alipour’ s precision in surgery, ensuring the removal of all affected areas and meticulous reconstruction, Dr. Bergeron’s oversight of Alison’s outpatient chemotherapy at the BHS Infusion Center, all played a pivotal role in Alison’s recovery – and now she is cancer free.
In reflecting on her experience, Alison expressed profound gratitude to the BHS team for being a beacon of hope and healing for her and her family. “I wholeheartedly recommend BHS to anyone facing a similar journey” she said. “The expertise and compassionate care available right here in our community is second to none.”
