Solidarity Quilt Block Project-QUILTmania

QUILTmania Editions is a publishing company based out of Nantes, Frances, that publishes magazines and books in several languages for the quilting industry.
At the pandemic's peak, many healthcare providers worldwide risked their lives and the lives of their loved ones, working overtime in the battle against the coronavirus.
The kind people of QUILTmania wanted to mobilize the international quilting community to participate in a solidarity project as a token of thanks for their hard work and dedication. The call went out for 10-inch quilt blocks in a color pattern ranging from red to pink. Eighty quilt designers created blocks, and over 1,000 quilters from around the world joined in and stitched their own blocks!
The plan was to assemble the blocks into small quilts to be presented to the most-affected hospitals where block makers reside. Quilters made blocks from Canada, Mexico, the United States, Australia, and many other countries in Europe.
QUILTmania operated an office in Marietta, GA, where they distributed publications to the North American market. Blocks made by quilters in Canada, Mexico, and the United States were received by this office. Two members of the Chattahoochee Evening Stars (CES) Quilt Guild http://cesquiltguild.com/ in Alpharetta, GA, visited the Marietta office to drop off blocks they made. In turn, they brought back 175 blocks that needed to be sewn into quilts. Eight quilters from the CES Quilt Guild placed, pieced, tied, and bound blocks into 18 quilts displayed over the last two months in City Hall in Alpharetta.
QUILTmania and the CES Quilt Guild aim to display the quilts in hospitals or healthcare facilities to recognize and honor the caregivers and first responders for their dedication during the pandemic.
