Patient Engagement Tablets Providing Education and Service at Beauregard Memorial Hospital

Hospital news | Monday, February 12, 2018

Beauregard Memorial Hospital is using technology to engage with patients during their emergency room, inpatient, same day surgery and labor and delivery visits. “The new tablets allow patients to use a familiar technology to connect with our staff and relevant health information and resources while they are receiving care,” said Bud Barrow, CEO. With the new tablets, patients have the capability to provide real time feedback and reviews of their visit, read through health content specific to their condition, sign up for health insurance on the spot, stay entertained by playing games and much more.

Beauregard Memorial Hospital launched nearly 100 bedside tablets throughout the hospital just before the beginning of the year. The new tablet technology is available through a partnership with Bioscape Digital. Unique to any other facility in our region, these tablets enable and empower patients, staff and doctors to improve patient engagement, patient experience and patient care coordination, leading to better outcomes and increased value.

Patients are already seeing the benefits of having a tablet in their room. Within the first six weeks after the program launched, Beauregard Memorial’s tablets have had over 9,000 views and over 600 feedback responses.
