Discounted Digital Mammograms
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, exceeded only by lung cancer. The chance that breast cancer will be responsible for a woman's death is about 1 in 36 (about 3%). The National Cancer Institute Recommends that women age 40 or older should have screening mammograms every 1 to 2 years. Early detection means that treatment can be started earlier in the course of the disease, possibly before it has spread.
Digital mammography offers a number of practical advantages and patient conveniences. Because there is no waiting for film to be developed it can significantly reduce the time patients spend in the breast center, as well as reduce the need for repeat exams due to under or over exposure. Digital images are easily stored and securely transferred electronically.
In Recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, discounted mammograms will be offered October 20th and 21st to women who are uninsured or underinsured. All discounted mammograms will be routine screenings, scheduled on a first come, first serve basis and will require a doctor’s order. In addition to the discounted mammograms, the radiologist’s readings will also be discounted. The total amount for the mammogram with the reading will be $100.00 and will be collected in full at the time of service.
If you have a doctor’s order and would like to schedule a mammogram please call 337.462.8788. If you have questions, or would like additional information about this important breast health procedure, please contact Marla Treme, BSRT (R M), Mammography Manager by calling 337.462.7100.
