Beauregard Health System announces affiliation with The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM).

Beauregard Health System is proud to announce its affiliation with The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) at the University of Louisiana - Monroe as a clinical rotation site. VCOM’s mission is to prepare globally-minded, community-focused physicians to meet the needs of rural and medically underserved populations and to promote research that improves human health. During their time at BHS, medical students will get exposure to all clinical hospital departments and be required to complete 4-week long clinical rotations through primary care and multiple specialties. “Aligning with a medical school is not only necessary for the school’s curriculum, but also supports BHS’s recruitment efforts by introducing us to future primary care physicians who want to work in rural areas such as ours”, said Elyse Stanley, Chief Strategy Officer at BHS. Dr. Edwin Bonilla serves as the Director of Student Medical Education for the program, and the BHS physicians overseeing the required rotations have been appointed as faculty with VCOM. BHS welcomed four third-year medical students at the beginning of August and will serve as an additional rotation site for six other students throughout the school year.
