Welcome to DeRidder, Louisiana!
In 2003 DeRidder celebrated it's 100th birthday. DeRidder is exactly one half the age of Louisiana and nearly one half the age of the United States. As the state and nation has matured, so has the city. DeRidder is here today because of the Railroad and Timber Industries. Both of these great industries fueled the founding and initial growth of our city. Without them, expansion and prosperity could not have been achieved.
A description of the area would be that of southern small town attributes like low cost-of-living, low cost recreational opportunities, mild climate, high quality-of-life, available land and low housing cost and low crime, all in one package. Beauregard Parish is a favorite with military retirees with warm climate, low home prices and quality living. Because of the convenience to Fort Polk and its amenities, families enjoy making retirement plans to stay in the area. Just a short drive takes you to either Houston or the Gulf of Mexico.
The greatest asset of any community is its people. Businesses and Industries wax and wane, but the strength of its people remain. The true spirit of Deridder is found today where it was found yesterday, in the people who built the city. This city, our city, the City of DeRidder, welcomes you!
